BCC and Love
What a hard night last night was. I not only was jet lagged but felt incredibly overwhelmed and broken.
When I asked for the Lord to break me I did not know it was going to be this early. I was flat on my face at the foot of the cross praising his name throughout the night. He taught me what it meant to be in real communication with him.
In my journal I wrote.... "As I cry remind me that you cry with me. Remind me that you catch each tear that falls down. Pour your love into my heart, and your wisdom into my head. I am broken, but made whole in Jesus Christ."
After a difficult night I was excited to start the morning. The BCC was so great and welcoming. I was immediately put in the med clinic and started my day with Shamilla and Evarlyn. The heart of who Jesus Christ is is found on the faces of these people. They so desperately long to serve the Lord and thank him for what little they have.
I asked Mama Shamilla about her family and if she was every frightened for herself or her kids..... she told me NO! That they were protected by our great savior. What sounds so minuscule was a precious gift from God. These people understand what it means to come to Jesus like a child.
One of my favorite memories from the day was when a young girl named Jackline taught me a handshake. It was so simple yet I somehow seemed to make it more complicated every time. Maybe what the Lord is trying to teach me is that Life is simple. To love God and love people. The people of this beautiful country get that.... and it is something we Americans so desperately long for. In some ways life over here is better! It is simple, joyful, and you are always learning! Thank you Jesus for a day of miracles.
For all my nurse friends out there I learned so many things today about African medicine. I learned how to give a measles shot, test a stool sample for Salmonella, and perform a microscope test on a slide. Here is to becoming a nurse, lover of God, and adopted Kenyan!

The med clinic where I will be giving immunization, checking vitals, and running tests with my precious friend Evarlyn!
My first patient... she was so afraid of getting a shot so we gave her meds instead! Praying for her body to heal!
Such a joy to be amongst these beautiful kids!
