Day 6

"In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you"? - John 14:2

Wow, all I can say is wow. So many times I forget that the Lord has promised that he is preparing a room for us right now. He is making it fit for a princess and decorated to our liking. It is so easy for us to get comfortable in this world and forget that this is just our temporary home. God does not call us to feel comfortable or stable here, but calls us to serve our purpose and make his name famous so that he can call us home. I always forget that at any point the Lord can say, "Hannah, I want you home with me." and that would be it. Why are my thoughts so focused on this world and what I can do now? Shouldn't my thoughts and actions point to Jesus Christ to remind us that we have a forever home in paradise? All these realizations make me think of the song "Temporary Home" by Carrie Underwood. Some of the lyrics go like this:

This is my temporary home, it's not where I belong
Windows and rooms that I'm passing through
This is just a stop on the way to where I'm going
I'm not afraid because I know
This is my temporary home

Thank you Jesus for promising us that this is just our temporary home. Thank you for loving us and preparing a room for us in YOUR house. I am constantly amazed by you! Thank you!
