Day 3

"Though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again." - Proverbs 24:16

What a wonderful verse for the day. This is a precious reminder of what it means to follow Jesus. That even though we may fall... 1, 2, or 200 times that Jesus will always be there to catch us. As I am pondering this verse I think of a poem written in my journal called "Footprints", and the poem goes a little like this:

One night I dreamed I was walking

Along the beach with the Lord.

Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.

Sometimes there were two sets of footprints.

Other times there was one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed that

During the low periods of my life when I was

Suffering from anguish, sorrow, or defeat,

I could only see one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord. "You promised me,

Lord, that if I followed you,

You would walk with me always.

But I noticed that during the most trying periods

Of my life there have only been

One set of footprints in the sand.

Why, when I needed you most,

You have not been there for me?"

The Lord Replied,

"The times when you have seen only one set of footprints

Is when I carried you."

Thank you Jesus for always being there for me, and thank you for your promise to carry me through all of life's troubles. I am so unworthy but am so grateful for the grace you pour over me every day.
