Fulfilling Promises
Psalm 145:13-14
13Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made. 14The LORD upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.

One year ago today I was stepping onto the red Kenyan mud for the first time. Although my heart longs to be back there I am confident that God will finish the work he is doing in the incredible country that stole my heart 365 days ago.Last year I left my heart in Kenya and with all the God fearing people I encountered. Today I pray for my sweet babies who were abandoned by the world but bought at a high price by our heavenly father.
I could not blog about Kenya without sharing a little bit on insight that made my trip what it was..... so to the new students serving the fatherless in Africa this is to you.
To the interns serving the people of the BCC-
Give as many hugs as you can. Trust me when I say you never want to forget what it is like to embrace those sweet children.
Be confident in what christ is doing... although satan attacks without seizing know that christ will fulfill the good work he is doing in you.
Pray continually... Christ is the only thing that will get you through this summer. Even when the exhaustion and loneliness take over be encouraged that God has not abandoned you and will NOT leave you.
Go to the giraffe and elephant orphanage.... they are the most beautiful creatures and it was one of my most favorite memories on our days off.
Write everything down..... you will love yourself for this one. Even after a year I still go back to the blogs I wrote while I was serving the fatherless in Kenya.
Learn Swahili.... Sa Sa? Poa! yesu anakupenda
Take as many pictures as possible... these will be precious memorabilia from the trip
Go to the Masai market... bargaining with the locals will make you feel like a true Kenyan.
Be real..... often times in Kenya, people look at Americans like angels. I believe one of our responsibilities while serving the fatherless around the world is to show them that we are sinful beings accepted by a loving savior. Share your testimony and relate to the people you are serving.
Eat as much Chapoti as possible.... you will have cravings back in the states
Be prepared to be poured into.... I cannot express to you how much I was poured into over there. I learned more from these God-fearing people then I could ever teach them.
Prepare to come home changed... This is not a joke. YOU WILL BE CHANGED forever and it is the best thing in the world.
Love on my babies for me and tell them they are adored every day. Try new things and embrace the culture. Laugh and cry more then you ever have and be prepared to fall in love! Don't waste a single moment because once you are back in the states you will do anything to be back. And most importantly Fall in love with christ all over again and be available to him!

So today instead of loving on the babies in Kenya I am sitting in lecture. Working my butt off in nursing school so that some day, Lord willing, I will be back with the people and the country that I love.
Thank you Jesus for starting a good work in me. Thank you sending people to love on the kids that stole my heart a year ago. Thank you for calling me yours and choosing me to participate in the work you are doing. I am confident in your love and your plan for the kids at the BCC. I pray that they would love you more then anything else and turn to you for all their necessities. Lord, you are welcome here!
