I Select Wool and Flax
"Let the dew of my presence refresh your mind and heart. So many, many things vie for your attention in this complex world of instant communication." -Jesus Calling
Psalm 46:10 says, " Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
I am challenging myself to a Proverbs 31 promise. I am going to study each verse of proverbs 31 and apply it to my own life. Therefore, God can work wonders amongst chaos.
As this semester is off to a slow start I want to prayerfully and intentionally become the proverbs 31 women that God has made me to be. He has crafted me to fulfill wonders with his help. It is my job to diligently follow what he is offering. I am merely dust that was bought for a high price and created for mighty things. Thank you Jesus for your constant companionship in this broken world.
Proverbs 31 is a section of the bible that lists the qualities of a wife of noble character. It begins by saying that this kind of woman is worth far more than rubies. Although all that is great I am going to focus on verse 13.
Proverbs 31:13 says, "She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands."
This verse is a characteristic of a woman who serves the Lord. It says she selects wool and flax... now lets pause. Wool and flax were fine linen that were not ready woven cloth. This means that she found raw material to work with instead of perfect linen. This makes me think of how the Lord calls us to reach out to real, broken, fearful people. He calls us to go out into the darkness to bring light. This verse is a perfect example of a woman who serves the Lord. She selects raw, real people and works eagerly with her hands.
Father, help me to be intentionally seeking your children. Help me to reach real, raw, broken girls who desperately need a savior. Help me to work eagerly with my hands and pursue your children with a joyful heart. Thank you for continuing your good work in me and allowing me to be part of your plan. I love you!
